Son of J. and E. Toone. Born Arkley, Barnet, Herts. Recorded as residing in Barnet when he enlisted in Watford – probably Arkley, Barnet.


No trace census records, but Electoral Rolls 1906-1915 show him living at Arkley Hotel which appears to be the family home and business

Wartime Service

Died of wounds.

Additional Information

His headstone reads: “May he rest in peace” as requested bY Mr W G Toone if the Duke if York, Barnet Middlesex.

23 Jan 1918 following probate, his home address was still shown as Arkley Hotel and his estate of £297 14s 1d was left to Adelaide Matilda Bassett, Spinster. (Sweetheart?)
