Son of Frederick George and Frances Elizabeth (nee ODLIN) EDWARDS.

His parents married 20 July 1893 at St Helen’s, Thorney, Notts.

Leslie was born 1894 in Lincoln, and baptised 22 July 1894 at St Peter’s, Saxelby, Lincs.  He resided in Watford.

On the 1901 Census, aged 6 he lived in Thurleston, Warks, with his parents and one sibling.  On the 1911 Census, at school aged 16, he lived in Berkhamsted, Herts, with his parents and one sibling.


Recorded as born in Lincoln and was living in Watford when he enlisted in Middlesborough.

Wartime Service

He enlisted in Middlesbrough, Yorks, and was formerly Gunner 76438 Machine Gun Corps.  He was entitled to the Victory, British War and 1914-15 Star medals, his qualifying date being 21 July 1915, and was presumed died of wounds received in action.  

Additional Information

Unfortunately, Leslie’s Service Record appears to be one that did not survive the World War Two bombing.
