Royal Masonic School Memorial, Rickmansworth

Pre War

Born on 25 Jul 1885 in Ipswich, Suffolk son of George W. and Elinor Todd (later Mrs. Jackson of "Haarlem," Langer Road, Felixstowe). Educated at the Royal Masonic School 1893-1900 he then joined the Civil Service.

Wartime Service

Before WW1 he was Corporal in the London City Rifles. He was recommended for a commission and was gazetted 2nd Lieutenant Royal Fusiliers but was transferred to the Suffolk Regiment and entered France in May 1915. He was wounded by shrapnel in Nov 1915 and invalided back to England. When he recovered he was promoted to Lieutenant and returned to the fight with the 7th Suffolks and was killed in action on the Somme.
