Pre War

George was born on 6th April 1891 to William and Maria Eden. He was baptised in Aldbury on 14th June 1891.


In the 1901 Census he is recorded as aged 9 and living at Railway Cottges, Tring with his family. In the 1911 census, he was a domestic gardener and living with his family at 12 Railway Cottages, Tring. 

Wartime Service

George enlisted in Hertford and arrived in France on 30th July 1915. 


He was a Private in the 6th Battalion of the Bedfordshire Regiment, who were part of the 112th Brigade, 37th Division. He died of his wounds on 19th July 1916 and is remembered at the Etaples Military Cemetery.


He is also remembered on his Grandfather George Puddephat's memorial in Aldbury graveyard.
