Pre War

He was the son of Georgina Tidman, who would appear to have had up to 20 children. He was born 30 Aug 1886 and was baptised on 2 Mar 1890, both events were in Aldenham. There is no father named on the Baptismal records


Census: In 1891 he is show living at Back Lane, Aldenham and in 1901 living at Letchmore Heath and recorded as a visitor with an occupation of Garden boy.

Wartime Service

Having joined the Essex Regiment as Private 16183 he went to France with the Regiment arriving 30 May 1915.


At present there is no trace of his enlistment papers.
