Son of Sarah Anne (nee PENGILLY) THWAITES of Watford, and the late Thomas Edward THWAITES.

His parents married 25 February 1883 at St Mary’s, Islington, London.  Thomas died 1913 in the Islington district aged 62, and was buried 28 July in Islington Cemetery; Sarah died 1936 in the Watford district aged 84.

Charles was born 1895 in Islington [not Doncaster], and baptised 18 September 1895 at All Saints, Islington.

On the 1901 Census, aged 4 he lived in Islington, with his parents and four siblings.  On the 1911 Census, a draper’s assistant aged 16, he still lived in Islington, with his parents and no siblings.

Wartime Service

He enlisted in Doncaster, Yorks; was entitled to the Victory and British War medals, and died of wounds received in action.

Additional Information

Unfortunately, Charles’ Service Record appears to be one that did not survive the World War Two bombing.
