Son of Harriet (nee GWILLIAM) and the late Charles Edward DYER; husband of Ellen DYER.
His parents married 19 May 1878 at St Mark’s, Shoreditch, London. Charles died 1905 in the Watford district aged 53, and was buried 9 November in Vicarage Road Cemetery, Watford; Harriet died 1947 in the St Alban’s, Herts, district aged 91, and was buried 6 March, also in Vacarage Road Cemetery.
Edwin was born 31 May 1889 in Stratford, Essex. He attended Callowland Board School, Watford, from 22 July to 11 October 1901; then Alexandra School, Watford, from 21 October 1901 to 21 May 1903. His marriage is proving elusive. He resided in Watford.
On the 1891 Census, aged 1 he lived in Stratford, with his parents and five siblings. On the 1901 Census, [Edward] aged 11 still lived in Stratford, with his parents and nine siblings. On the 1911 Census, a Cook’s Mate aged 21, he was aboard H.M.S. Black Prince, somewhere!
Wartime Service
He had enlisted 21 January 1908 for a period of 12 years: a baker, 5’4″ tall.
He was entitled to the Victory, British War and Star medals, and was killed when H.M.T.B [ Torpedo Boat] 10 (Greenfly) was torpedoed by a German submarine, or struck a mine, in the North Sea.
His widow of Harwich, Essex, was notified.

His brother Albert died 1 July 1916 and also features on Watford Borough Roll of Honour.
