Son of James and Elizabeth Ann (nee WEST) THOMSON of Kenmay, Aberdeen.
His parents married 11 March 1891 at St Giles’, Camberwell, London. Elizabeth died 1920 in Watford aged 66, and was buried 30 September in Vicarage Road Cemetery, Watford.
Frank was born 18 March 1892 in Oyne, Aberdeen, and attended Callowland Board School, Watford, from 18 April 1904 to 8 July 1906. He resided in Watford.
On the 1901 Census, aged 9 he lived in Oyne, with his mother and one sibling. On the 1911 Census, an apprentice process engineer aged 19, he lived in Watford, with his mother and one sibling.
Wartime Service
He enlisted in London, and was formerly Private 16345 Hussars.
He was awarded the D.C.M. for conspicuous gallantry, gazetted 22 September 1916; was entitled to the Victory, British War and 1914-15 Star medals, his qualifying date being 23 July 1915, and died of wounds received in action.
Additional Information
Unfortunately, Frank’s Service Record appears to be one that did not survive the World War Two bombing.
